Q. How does the SharperBlade self-sharpen?
A.
SharperBlade’s have a thin, yet heavy duty, nylon mesh molded into its flexible, resilient plastic blade. The nylon is precisely placed throughout the blade's cutting edge. As the blade rotates, cutting grass or weeds, fresh new nylon mesh is exposed, at the blade's edge. This patented technology ensures your blade will maintain a sharp cutting edge throughout its entire use.

Q. How long can the SharperBlade last?
A. Weed Whack blade
– It depends on how you use it. The less contact with hard surfaces, like concrete, the longer it will last. It’s possible to last up to four (4) seasons or more, with the added convenience of never having to restring, un-jam or pound your whacker, again.

Lawn Mower blade – Will last as long as a typical steel blade, with the added peace-of-mind that you’re using the only alternative to steel; the only blade designed to avoid serious injury, and the added benefit of never having to sharpen or replace chipped steel blades.

Edger blade – With proper usage, will last as long as a steel blade, with the peace-of-mind that you’re using a safer blade that won’t throw dangerous sparks, and with the added benefits of never having to worry about damaging your concrete, brick, stone or sprinklers.

Q. How good is the lawn mower blade’s quality-of-cut?
A.
Where nothing cuts as perfectly as a newly sharpened steel blade, the steel blade immediately begins to dull… soon after imperfectly cutting the lawn. Although the SharperBlade’s cut is not as perfect as a newly sharpened steel blade; the SharperBlade’s cut is the same from the first cut to the last, without the need for sharpening or concern of serious injury.

Q. Will the SharperBlade fit on my lawn mower?
A.
The SharperBlade has a "universal" construction, to mount on virtually every RIDING AND PUSH make and model.

The SharperBlade Mower Blades fit mower deck sizes 17" to 22". You'll begin by receiving a 22" SharperBlade Mower Blade. Then, if necessary, you may need to size it. Here’s how:
  1. Measure your existing steel blade. If your steel blade is 22", your SharperBlade is ready to mount.
  2. If your steel blade is 21" to 17", in length, then locate the appropriate "cut" lines on the SharperBlade.
  3. With your garden sheers, cut along the appropriate "cut" lines at each end. Your SharperBlade is ready to mount.
  4. You will use your existing bracket(s) and bolt(s) to secure your SharperBlade to your mower.

The lawn mower blade fits the following mowers:
Aircap, AYP/EHP/Sears, Bolens, Craftsman, Honda, Huskee, Husqvarna, Lawn-boy, MTD, Murry, Poulan, Snapper, Toro, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, Yard-Man, Craftsman Electric, Black & Decker Electric.

Q. What comes with my order?
A. Your order will include:

  1. Step-by-step installation instructions with drawings and photos.
  2. All necessary assembly hardware - centering, compression and mounting washers.
  3. Tinted safety glasses – these stylish glasses will protect you eyes from flying debris, along with harmful UVA and UVB rays. These are genuine federally certified with the government’s “ANSI” rating.
Q. Will the SharperBlade work on my electric equipment?
A.
Yes, the SharperBlade works on all electric equipment (Lawn mowers, weed whackers and edgers), as long as the equipment will accept the SharperBlade’s universal mounting system.

Q. How do I know if the SharperBlade will work on my Weed Whacker?
A. The SharperBlade fits 100% of all Weed Whackers on the market that have a removable trimmer head. The secret is in the SharperBlade’s “universal mounting system.” You just select one of the several “centering” washers that fit your equipment and place it in the center of SharperBlade’s mounting hole. Then, follow the easy, step-by-step, fully illustrated instructions. (The only models the SharperBlade will not install onto are two (2) electric brands – Black & Decker electric and Sears Craftsman electric, because the trimmer head cannot be removed. Toro electric trimmers require an adaptor – sold separately)

Q. What can the SharperBlade cut?
A.
As a general rule, the SharperBlade can cut anything that standard nylon string can cut, but without the hassles of pounding and re-stringing.

Q. What jobs can I do with my SharperBlade?
A.
Weed Whacker blade
– groom your lawn’s edge; trim spots where your mower can’t reach. Cut grass or weeds along fences, without ever having to replace string or other parts, again. Cut around rock walls, wood decks and concrete walks, easier than ever before.

Lawn Mower blade – cut your grass with the peace-of-mind knowing that you won’t ever have to sharpen your blade again, and won’t cut unseen objects in you lawn, like garden hoses or electrical cords. Also, the polymer construction won’t create sparks that can cause a fire.

Edger blade – groom your lawn’s edge without ever damaging your cement, brick or stone walks again. The SharperBlade won’t damage plastic sprinkler heads, either. No more worrying about sparks or chips flying up to hit you or bystanders, or cause a fire.

Q. Do I get the power equipment with the blade?
A.
At this time we are not providing the power equipment. Look for SharperBlade power equipment in 2007.

Q. With so many makes and models of Walk-behind Edgers, how does one (1) SharperBlade fit on all of them?
A.
Edgers have typically two (2) standard sizes:
  1. Blades for gas equipment are 9-1/2"
  2. Blades for electric equipment are 7-1/2"
The edger blade has been constructed to fit all gas-powered equipment, without any modification.

For ELECTRIC edger equipment, here's how you size it:

Step 1 - Measure your existing steel blade, from the center hole to the tip of the blade. Then, measure the same length from SharperBlade's center hole, marking the measurement on the SharperBlade (i.e. 3-1/2"). Step 2 - With your garden sheers, cut along the measurement line you just drew.
Step 3 - Choose the appropriate "centering" washer for your Edger and mount the SharperBlade using your existing bolt and washer.

Q. Will the SharperBlade LAWN MOWER BLADE fit on my RIDING mower?
A.
Yes. The SharperBlade has a "universal" construction, to mount on virtually every make and model. The SharperBlade Mower Blades will replace steel blade sizes 17" to 22". You'll begin by receiving a 22" SharperBlade Mower Blade. Then, if necessary, you may need to size it. Here's how:
Q. Can the SharperBlade break? (All Blades)
A. Although the SharperBlade is constructed of extremely strong Aerospace-grade polymer, specifically designed to flex against hard objects, like rocks and fences, nothing is indestructible. Even steel blades can break under the right conditions.

For the Weed Whacker Blade, two (2) conditions must exist for the blade to break:
  1. A high rate of speed and
  2. Excessive force that buckles the blade close to its hub.
The centrifugal force, created by a Weed Whacker’s high speed, can limit the SharperBlade’s ability to flex. It’s the classic case of the unstoppable force (a blade at high speed) meeting the immovable object (a solid surface). At that point, something’s got to give and the blade may be forced to tear itself. We call this… Tear Protection. The key is to start out at slower speeds until you get used to how easily the SharperBlade cuts.

For all three blades: It is possible for the blade to get a “nick” in it. But, one of the greatest features about the SharperBlade is that it will “repair itself.” As you continue to use it, the SharperBlade will smooth out the nick, back to a sharp edge. It’s maintenance-free!

Q. What tools do I need to install the SharperBlade?
A. Just typical pliers or wrenches or sockets.
